What is eCut?

This remarkable plugin for CorelDRAW allows many advanced utilities for computer designers who work with Vinyl, CNC machines, or laser cutters.

eCut has more than 40 different functions which include invaluable aids with the design of outdoor signs, light boxes, neon and LED signs.

New coding with this new version has made the user interface more user friendly.

Performance of some of the most used functions has been enhanced.

Main areas of application.

Below I will describe the main uses of the program, and what features you should pay attention to each case. eCut is powerful tool, and of course, you must be able to use it, because sometimes people do not realize how useful functions can be! Their indirect use can also open up new possibilities of the program!

Nesting and multiply.

Functions:nesting, rectangle nesting, multiply.

Nesting.

You can zoom-in and zoom-out preview, select objects and change its parameters, like

Function can separate all shapes by color and nest each color sesarately.

You also can pick container-shape and eCut will nest all shapes inside container.

And finally, when you get few results, you can select best one.

Rectangle nesting.

The main advantage of this function is ability to set zero distance between shapes.

Function works very fast and you can set iteration count higher to get better result.

Multiply.

Use this function to make copies of selected object. You can specify quantity of copies, or area to fill with the object!

Also you can force function to make crosses.

Working with cutters and additional functions.

Functions: cut/plot, weeding lines, separate shapes, search for intersections, duplicates and duplicated edges, making files for contour cutting.

Cut/plot.

This function works with most cutters that support HPGL/DMPL commands.
All you need is printer driver installed to send data to cutter.

You can use any printer driver or net-printer.

Function can change origin, size and even make few passes.

You also can separate all shapes by color.

You can pre-process paths to make first point invisible after cutting and optimize tool path.

eCut can emulate knife offset (sharpness) - very useful for Chinese cutters.

Many cutter can work with eCut - all you have to do is set its commands.

Weeding lines.

The given option is especially useful at "cutting" the fine text, reducing to a minimum number of the "taken off" elements. The principle of action is based on creation of auxiliary lines (red color), which connect external contours of two next objects. Thus, at "cleaning" a film all points and commas will remain on the places!

Separate shapes.

Use this function to separate very long shapes.

Very useful when you cut very complex shapes no cutters.

Remove duplicated edges, search for intersections and duplicates.

<u>Find intersections</u> -
Use this function to find intersections of curves.

<u>Find duplicates</u> -
This function finds and removes duplicate shapes.
Positions of duplicates are equal, and each duplicate is lying on original object.

Contour cutting file.

Updated, this function becomes more friendly to user.
It can create files for contour cutting: for print and for cut.

On main tab you can specify block size and main placing parameters.
Also you can simply fill your material with stickers.

Measurement functions.

Functions: perimeter, area, cost, time.

<u>Perimeter</u> -
Use this function to calculate perimeter of selected objects. Also you can calculate cost.

<u>Area</u> -
This function calculate the area of selected objects without overlaps.
But if Your objects has overlaps, then You have to use

<u>Cost</u> -
This function lets you to calculate cost of selection.

<u>Time</u> -
This feature allows you to find out how much time you need to process selected objects on plotter/cutter (or even CNC) .
Another words - it calculates machine time

Additional functions

Functions: LEDs, neon, variables, edge roll.

LEDs.

You can use own shape as diodi in this function.

Neon.

Variables.

Absolutely new function and available only in eCut 6!
Main task is to copy template and replace its parts with text, images, QR codes, Bar codes or URLs.
All variables can be taken from database. And database can be imported from Excel file.

Function is very adaptive and can make many tasks.

Edge roll.

Effects

Functions: FX, lines and grid creator, draft.
